Here's that opening we watched in lessons today:
Think about the soundtrack/audio and how effective it is for this piece..

Group Equipment
You all now have your equipment - cameras, flips, tripods and bags! Look after them and don't leave any of them lying around anywhere.
This is the vid I want you to make a similar version of today:
Yours must be in black and white also, to appropriate soundtrack. Work on it and then upload to your blogs when done - deadline for this is next Friday - 26th October.

Settings in YouTube vids
Forgot to mention to you all that you MUST set some extra little settings to ANY vid you upload to YouTube using the school channel.
Once it's uploaded from iMovie, find your vid in our channel (use videomanager button - probably quickest way) and then click on the 'edit' button.
This'll take you to this page:

The 4 boxes that are ticked are defaulted like that and need to be altered - you need to remove the ticks so that no one can comment on the vid you upload.
Once you've unticked the boxes, remember to click 'save' at the bottom right and you're done!
I've gone through the latest vids you've all uploaded and changed the settings myself, but from now on, you need to do this for all your vids you upload.

Prelim Deadline
Well done to you all for completing your prelim tasks.
I think some of you are having far too much fun editing your outtakes when you haven't completed your prelim edit SO.. can you please have both short films (prelim AND outtakes) finished, uploaded and posted onto all of your blogs by:
Friday 12th October.
Also, you should have vlogged about your Prelim - kind of like an evaluation vlog - so technically, that's 3 films I'd like on each blog by Friday 12th Oct.
You can have Wednesday 10th October lesson for editing.
We won't be having Friday's lesson as you've all got your ALIS tests 1&2 on Friday - and as I ought to be teaching Y12 (you), I offered to invigilate the test - so whilst you'll be wracking your brains on IQ like questions, I'll be sat checking all of your blogs.
Woe betide ANYONE who hasn't got both films posted onto their blogs by 9:00am on Friday 12th.
I'd like to issue all 5 groups with your recording equipment the following Wednesday lesson (17th) - but if you haven't met my prelim deadline, then your group WILL NOT receive their cameras etc.
Film Openings...
I'd like you to start focusing on film openings - now you're all engaged in the course and noticing different camera shots in adverts etc, I want you to turn your main focus to what type of genre of film you'd like to shoot - and inspiring openings already done.
Here's one of my favourites ever - it's a tad longer than the time allowed for yours but there you go:

Moderator's Report - Summer 2012
Below is the full moderator's report for our centre from Summer 2012 coursework unit:
"Thank you for your prompt submission of the centre’s entries for this series. The work was securely packaged, the central hub for the blogs was appreciated and the candidates’ blogs were easy to navigate, despite the additional examination related posts.
"Thank you for your prompt submission of the centre’s entries for this series. The work was securely packaged, the central hub for the blogs was appreciated and the candidates’ blogs were easy to navigate, despite the additional examination related posts.
The centre’s comments were clear and referred to the appropriate level and mark descriptors. Marking was in-line with what is considered to be the agreed national standard for this
unit.
In research and planning, there was a range of evidence in place for both the groups and the individuals. There was a clear ‘journey’ of progression from the brief to the evaluation across the sample, mainly due to the frequent blog posts. It was clear that the final moving image constructions were result of the detailed research and planning. Video-logs were strong across the sample and candidates posted regularly. It was felt that key concepts, like audience, could have been documented in more detail and the candidates should relate planning to their potential construction whenever possible. It is especially important to link all stages of planning and research when a group changes ‘concept’ midway through the process.
The video work made use of forms and conventions which made them clearly readable as openings to films within their chosen genre. Use of sound and the post-production titles were particularly strong from this centre. Editing was generally well considered to create meaning for the viewer. The centre correctly identified the professional film to some of the examples and how framing was successful in creating a cinematic feel. This led to the majority of the candidates falling well inside the Level 4 criteria.
In the evaluation element, all candidates responded to the seven stipulated questions showing an understanding of the key concepts, outcomes and the process of construction. A wide range of technologies was successfully employed. The mixture of video commentaries was explored here in detail. It may have been helpful for the centre to identify the different individual candidates in the group commentaries for the moderation process. Some candidates included outtakes of the evaluations, which although entertaining, was unnecessary for the moderating process.
Overall, it is clear that the candidates are well supported and that they responded positively to this. The centre has fully embraced the spirit of the specification.

It was a pleasure to moderate such a well organsied centre. Thank you."

Prelim posts from Friday
The two groups that completed their prelims on Friday need to blog about them - not a single person has done this yet..
Have a look on Elisha's blog to see how she wrote her group's up, but you basically just need to archive the whole experience, good or bad. Tell us what you were aiming for, what you hoped to achieve, a script of the shoot, who was where, that kind of thing.
And until you've completed the editing of the final prelim, use screen shots like these:

Apologies to Hannah,Taneshia, Rachel and Lucy but someone's got to go first and don't worry, I'll get the others on Wednesday.
(Don't think Leo, Kate and Britney have anything to worry about...)
